Cathedral Peak hotel - Drakensberg, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa

Nestled in the Drakensberg just below peaks such as Bells and Cathedral is a lovely, homely hotel called Cathedral Peak hotel. Established in 1937 by Albert and Doreen van der Riet, the hotel is still family owned and is currently owned and run by William and wife Belinda.

The hotel has grown over the years but the homely feeling has not changed, certainly over the years that I have been visiting. Run by a bunch of really friendly people who are the beck and call of everyone that chooses to visit.

One of the best reasons to visit this establishment (besides the views and walks) is the FOOD. I defy anyone to walk away from Cathedral Peak hotel and say they did not enjoy the food. Every meal is an adventure and very fulfilling.

If golf is your game then you will certainly find the 9 hole course challenging - and spectacular. Obviously, walkers will be happy to know they have been catered for and hikes into the mountains are for the fit and adventurous. Mountainbikers are also catered for with some really challenging tracks into the foothills.

Weddings are a big thing here and the resort boast one of the best placed chapels in the 'Berg.

Spend a weekend or even a week here - you will love it.
